What is the Fretboard Radius on Guitar Kit World Kits?Updated 8 days ago
The fretboard radius describes how curved (or flat) the guitar’s fingerboard is. It’s measured as the radius of an imaginary circle that matches the curve of the fretboard.
Standard Fretboard Radius
All of our stock DIY guitar kits currently come with a 14” fretboard radius.
This is a fairly modern, medium-flat radius.
It provides a comfortable balance between easy chord playing and smooth string bending.
Works well across many playing styles, from rhythm to lead.
Variations in Some Kits
Some of our bass kits instead feature a 16” fretboard radius. This is slightly flatter than 14” and often preferred by players who like faster necks, lower action, and easier bends higher up the fretboard.
Neck Shape
Alongside the 14” radius, our kits use a C-shaped neck profile as standard, which most players find versatile and comfortable.
Custom Shop Options
Through our Custom Shop, you can request other fretboard radius such as:
9.5” (rounder, more vintage-style feel, great for chords).
12” (common on many modern guitars, flatter for faster play).
16” (extra flat, ideal for fast playing and bends).
Or other custom measurements as needed.
