What Fret Wire Do Our DIY Guitar Kits Use?Updated 8 days ago
All of our DIY guitar kits come with frets already installed on the neck, so you don’t need to worry about sourcing or installing them yourself.
Standard Fret Size
The standard fret size across all of our stock kits is 2.7 mm (medium jumbo fret wire), , which is a versatile choice favored by many guitarists.
Medium jumbo frets provide a comfortable balance between easy chord playing and smooth string bending.
Fret Wire Material
Most kits use nickel fret wire, which is the industry standard and offers durability with a familiar feel.
Some kits feature bronze fret wire, depending on the model.
At this time, we do not use stainless steel frets in our stock kits.
Custom Shop Options
If you’re ordering from our Custom Shop, you can request:
Different fret sizes (e.g., smaller vintage-style frets or larger jumbo frets).
Alternative fret wire materials, depending on availability.
How to Check Fret Specs for Your Kit
The Product Specifications section on each kit’s product page lists the exact fret details, including size and material.
