Guitar Kit Body Depths – General GuideUpdated 9 days ago
Understanding body depth is helpful when choosing the right DIY guitar kit, especially if you’re comparing solid-body kits with hollow or semi-hollow styles. Below is a general overview of the typical body depths across our kits.
Flat Solid-Body Kits
Most of our solid-body electric guitar kits (ST, TE, LP, etc.) have a standard flat body depth of 43mm.
This applies across the majority of models, unless otherwise specified in product details.
Hollow & Semi-Hollow Body Kits
Hollow and semi-hollow kits vary more in depth depending on the model and cutaway style.
Thin Hollow/Semi-Hollow Kits – approx. 43.5mm body depth
Example: E35-style double cutaway, L3 Venetian cutaway
Fat Hollow Kits – approx. 83mm body depth
Example: L5 Venetian cutaway, E75 Florentine cutaway
These deeper bodies give a fuller, more resonant tone, closer to an acoustic instrument, while thinner hollow bodies provide greater comfort and reduced feedback. Learn more about our Hollow Body kits from here: https://guitarkitworld.com/blogs/resources/hollow-body-guitar-kits
Important Notes
Measurements are approximate and can vary slightly depending on the production batch.
Not all kits have published depth specs, but the above guidelines cover the majority of cases.
