Do you sell finished, painted, or completed guitars?Updated 22 days ago

No. Guitar Kit World sells unfinished DIY guitar kits only. Every kit arrives unassembled, unpainted and unfinished, so the building and the finishing are yours to do.

Do you sell completed or finished guitars?

No. We do not sell finished, ready-to-play or fully assembled guitars. Every product we sell is a kit that you build yourself.

Are the bodies and necks pre-finished?

No. Bodies and necks ship as bare, unfinished wood. There is no paint, stain, sealer or clear coat on them. This is deliberate: it leaves you free to choose the colour and finish you want, and it is the reason no two builds look the same.

Do your kits come pre-painted?

No. We do not offer pre-painted kits, and we cannot paint a kit for you before it ships. Painting, staining and clear coating are all part of your build.

What you get in the box

  • An unfinished body and neck

  • The hardware and electronics for that model, unless the product page notes an exception

  • Assembly is not done for you

What you will need to supply

Finishing materials (paint, stain, sealer or clear coat) and a few common tools are not included and are bought separately. See Are finishing materials included? and our Luthier Tools for DIY Guitar Kits list.

Where to start with finishing

If this is your first build, our Guitar Finishing 101 guide walks through the options, and How to Choose the Right Finish helps you pick one that suits your skill level and workspace.

Looking for something more custom?

Our Custom Shop can build a kit to your specification, but Custom Shop kits also ship unfinished. The finishing is still yours to do.
